INTRODUCTION.
As a consumer, sometimes I know exactly what I want, and sometimes I do not know what I want until it's in front of me. I want to be a loyal customer and can quickly find new products / services. On the other hand, advertisers want to market their products / services with a high level of confidence that I will make a purchase. In short, it is an advertiser-consumer relationship. When the relationship is in perfect balance, get what they want. ZeroState is a platform designed to achieve that balance / link.

Although products and services are often categorized by type (eg Sci-fi, toys, furniture, clothing, etc.), ZeroState suggests that consumers can find products / services more accurately and precisely using consumer emotional preferences (happy, sad, awesome, sexy, etc.). As such, ZeroState wants to capitalize on strong emotional ties and relationships with things they want and provide a transactional platform to better connect consumers and advertisers.

THE END THOUGHT.
Getting the product in front of the consumer and knowing with great confidence that they will buy the item, is the Holy Grail for advertisers. For consumers, they do not want to be confused with marketing. In other words, if the communication between consumers and advertisers is unbalanced, then advertisers are wasting their money and consumers are wasting their time. In order for the relationship to succeed, both parties must be able to communicate their requirements to each other. The perfect communication is ultimately what ZeroState wants to achieve.
At first, I was a bit skeptical that my emotional state and my sensual feedback, can accurately fund what I was looking for. However, with some reflection, I think consuming is strongly related to one's emotional state (one's emotional state can affect a number of types of decisions - not just product / service purchases). For me, I prefer to listen to music by type and then with emotion. For products, I want to see what's "popular," "cool," or "awesome." Good to go right? It's a bit more complicated. Lamborghini suits my preference, but chances are I'll buy it very close to zero. In this day and age should I expect advertisers to know that? Yes I do.
ZeroState understands that achieving a perfect balance requires certain mastery. That is why their transactional models and mechanisms to ensure unbiased ratings of fair advertising campaigns and distribution of funds are outlined in their white paper. Simply put, ZeroState needs to ensure participants play fair to deliver their economies from a high probability model of success. Do not forget: Bad data usually means bad data out. The ZeroState model must find the right balance of incentives to ensure participants are acting and communicating in good faith. If that can be achieved, then everyone wins - including ZeroState.
ZeroState is not the only company looking for the Holy Grail. Amazon (you may have heard of it), diligently works to improve their predictive Artificial Intelligence (AI) analytics. Amazon wants to increase their customer data to predict what you want to buy before you even do it! Amazon's approach is different, but their goals are the same. There is a ZeroState project certainly meets my threshold for an interesting project. I do not think they need a large user base to be successful. They need to prove that their model works for the size of the user base and that growth will come organically.
